I Leave No Explanation…

Blog Entryboo... =__=Aug 2, '07 11:36 AM
for everyone
I finally have something to blog again. I just came home from my duty in East Avenue Medical Center.

This morning, I woke up at 9am because I have to iron my uniform, cook dinner for myself (para tipid).  Bad thing was, there's no water...=___=
The dinner I made was experimental. I was supposed to cook the pork loin in the sauce I made.  When it was done, it tasted like fried pork dipped extensively in ketchup...@_@

So there, I packed my stuff, waited for Ian and left to go to the bank. I accompanied Ian to deposit money to be able to start his dream blogging experience.  Then he accompanied me until Philcoa, first stop to EAMC (duty place).

I was and still am assigned in the Neuro Ward and was designated to a patient who is connected to:
- an oxygen tank @ 8L/min
- a mechanical ventilator
- intravenous fluid D5NMx20gtts/min
- foley catheter connected to urine bag
- naso-gastric tube (should be fed every 4hrs)
- suction machine (before turning on mechanical ventilator)

Vital signs should be taken EVERY hour. Patient conscious, responsive (non-verbally), calm and in moderate high back rest.

Well my duty was good until I realized, I forgot my sphygmomanometer and stethoscope. Good thing I was able to borrow RD's.  His patient was V/S q 4.  The flow of my duty was good until charting came. I forgot to sign many of the medications I have done, sucked in IV monitoring (got problems in computations), was a bit clumsy in NGT feeding (I spilled a table spoon full), and measuring input and output.  I got problems measuring input since my patient is in NGT, output because I still have to transfer the urine in a measuring cup before recording.  All of my group mates left at 9:40pm, together with the clinical instructor, while I was still NGT feeding until 10pm sharp...=_____=

I came home using a different route, via Q.Ave.  I was confident enough that I won't be passing any squatter's area where stealing is rampant.

I got home, with the entrance very wet because of people spilling water while carrying their fetched water into their rooms.

In summary:
I am exhasuted both in body and mind...I'll never let this happen again...=____=
